Smaller budget, bigger vision

Ambition remains high within the regional executive board, even though the Flemish Brabant province has to make do with €7 million less each year during this legislative term.

In the coming years, this will translate into the development of a healthcare campus in Halle and sustainable recreational water uses in provincial estates. Investment is also being directed towards bicycle highways, physical hiking interchange networks, affordable housing, education, an animal shelter in the Leuven region, cyber security, Dutch language proficiency, sustainability with the expansion of the Brabantse Wouden National Park, and a 10% increase in tourist numbers. All of the above is apparent in the policy declaration that has been issued by the new provincial executive, a coalition of the N-VA, CD&V and Open Vld parties.
