Present at the founding of the Passa Porta literature centre, Ilke Froyen transitioned to Cultuurconnect after twenty years, making the move from Brussels to Ghent and from print to digital.

One thing that never changes is the joy of reading. ‘My way of being, my place in the world, is shaped by a childhood, where going to the library was part of our family culture, that place felt like a second home, and I have fond memories of reciting children’s books by heart. Reading fosters concentration, enables us to comprehend complex ideas, and connects us to society. This is essential. Digital platforms often provide easier access to literature, or new ways to share stories.’
