Keep on going whatever life throws in your way

Hailing from Mexico, Barbara Mora Valera was only four when she arrived in Belgium. Her father’s advice, keep on going, even when things get tough, had a formative influence on this Overijse resident’s life.

This determination was instrumental in her graduation from the Royal Military Academy. She served as an officer in the Belgian army for seventeen years and now works as a security manager for a pharmaceutical company. In the event of war, she is ready to answer the call as a reservist. And with the threat to women’s rights now on the rise again, she emphasises the importance of vigilance, asking: what kind of world are we leaving for our children and grandchildren?
