Ish Ait Hamou from Vilvoorde started telling stories at the tender age of 13. He uses dance, film images and words to tell his stories. His first novel Hard hart was published last winter. Ait Hamou is primarily known to the general public as a choreographer and a member of the panel of judges on the popular TV programme So you think you can dance. However, he has many more strings to his bow than that. ‘Telling stories is the basis of everything I do. I think first of all in images and then try as best as I can to convert this into dance, film or a textual form. In the final analysis it is all about the imagination and the stories this creates. As long as I have something to say, I will continue to do so, in any way whatsoever.’ (RK, apr 2014)
