The address is Belliardstraat 58, smack in the middle of Brussels, and the banner at the entrance to the Goethe Institut welcomes visitors with the message: Language. Culture. Germany. A brief yet powerful statement summing up what the establishment represents. 'Our aim is quite simply to make friends through the German language and culture', stresses Berthold Franke, head of the Goethe Institut in Brussels.  The German cultural centre serves up all kinds of activities to help you become acquainted with a spot of German culture. This is obviously the place to learn German but we are eager to forge stronger ties with other cultures. As the capital of Europe, Brussels is an excellent starting point for achieving this aim. German culture's interplay with the other cultures here helps to add an extra dimension while enriching our culture'. A survey the Goethe Institut recently conducted showed that culture is regarded as one of the cornerstones of Europe. (RK, okt 2013)
