Keeping greenhouses in good repair

Solheide hilltop in Overijse is a haven of peace and quiet. Everything revolves around grape production there. Fourteen of the 18 greenhouses on the site enjoy protected status. Most of them have been there for more than a century. '3Wplus plays an active role in Overijse, Hoeilaart, Tervuren and Huldenberg in ensuring the upkeep of greenhouses and promoting the  grape-growing sector. We are in charge of two grape-cultivation sites: one at the Kelleveld estate in Hoeilaart and one at the Solheide site in Overijse. Four employees are assigned to the upkeep of the greenhouses. These shining examples of the rich heritage are in urgent need of renovation. We cannot keep up with all the demands. There used to be a lot of restorers but only a small number of people now have the appropriate skills', says Rudy Vanpee, local coordinator of the social economy enterprise 3Wplus. (RK, dec 2015)
