Cycling boom rolls on
‘None of these routes is completely finished yet, but many of the problems are expected to be sorted out in within a short space of time. On the F3, for example, a bridge over the Ring Road is now being finished. And on the F20, major projects were recently completed in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw and Beersel, making it the most popular route in the Flemish Brabant province’, says the provincial delegate Tom Dehaene (CD&V). Reliable statistics about how many people actually use the routes are not yet available. Much to the regret of the Fietsersbond (Flemish Cycling Federation). ‘The choice of routes takes into account the potential for cycling growth but more censuses and satisfaction surveys need to be undertaken to gain a clearer understanding of the situation’, says Fietsersbond representative Wies Callens.
