‘The appeal our language, culture and way of life has for people is encouraging us to build even more linguistic and cultural bridges between Denmark and Belgium.'

The Danish Cultural Institute provides Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and Icelandic language courses. A team of five instructors is available to help roughly 120 students discover and master the different Scandinavian languages. ‘The student intake is on the increase and people are enrolling for a whole variety of reasons', says Klaus Bondam, the head of the Danish Cultural Institute, who also used to be the Mayor of Copenhagen. There has been an undeniable surge in interest for Nordic cultures in recent years. ‘The appeal our language, culture and way of life has for people is encouraging us to build even more linguistic and cultural bridges between Denmark and Belgium. Examples are the cooperation between Danish and Belgian artists and the partnership between the Danish and Belgian architects Bjarke Ingels and Julien De Smedt, who are transforming the Port of Copenhagen into a pleasant seaside resort.'
